Drum Drama: St. Margaret’s Withern

Exercise 3 rom St. Margaret’s Withern in Lincolnshire features three versions of a drumming circle. The static long take shows the ensemble – it’s squarely about a group into which an individual doesn’t fit. Long take 2, with a moving camera (on a wheelie chair we think), follows the outsider into the room, sees her lost in the group, and follows her out. The montage sequence (sequence 3) offers a combined view, using elements of static and point of view shots – into something maybe more ‘objective’.
